Abstract:
The growing problem of waste management demands innovative solutions for efficient segregation and recycling. This project presents an automated waste segregation system using Arduino, a moisture sensor, and a servo motor. The Arduino microcontroller serves as the central processing unit, receiving input signals from the moisture sensor to determine the type of waste based on its moisture content. Organic waste, which generally contains higher moisture, is distinguished from dry or inorganic waste. Once the waste type is identified, the Arduino triggers a servo motor to direct the waste into the appropriate bin. This automated approach minimizes human intervention, reduces contamination risks, and enhances the efficiency of waste management systems. The system is simple, cost-effective, and can be scaled for domestic, commercial, or industrial applications.
Introduction:
Waste management has become a critical challenge due to rapid urbanization and population growth. Improper segregation of waste not only leads to environmental pollution but also complicates recycling processes. Traditional methods of waste sorting are labour-intensive, time-consuming, and prone to human error.
To address these issues, automated waste segregation systems are being developed using sensors and microcontrollers. In this project, an Arduino-based system is used along with a moisture sensor and servo motor to classify waste into organic and inorganic types. The moisture sensor detects the water content in the waste, allowing the system to identify wet organic waste and dry inorganic waste. Once identified, a servo motor moves the waste into the correct bin, ensuring proper segregation.
This system offers a cost-effective, efficient, and environmentally friendly solution for waste management, suitable for homes, offices, and small industries.
