Abstract
The growing demand for renewable energy has increased the importance of efficient solar power generation systems. A solar tracking system is designed to automatically orient a solar panel toward the direction of maximum sunlight throughout the day. This project implements a single-axis solar tracking system using Light Dependent Resistors (LDRs), an Arduino microcontroller, and a DC Motor. The LDRs detect the intensity of sunlight, and based on the difference in light levels, the controller adjusts the position of the solar panel to face the sun. This system improves energy efficiency compared to fixed solar panels and is suitable for small-scale and educational applications.
INTRODUCTION:
Solar energy is one of the most abundant and clean sources of renewable energy. Traditional fixed solar panels are positioned at a fixed angle, which limits their efficiency because the sun’s position changes throughout the day. A solar tracking system overcomes this limitation by continuously adjusting the panel’s orientation. This project focuses on designing a low-cost and simple solar tracking system using LDR sensors and an Arduino Uno, making it suitable for academic projects and demonstrations.
