Soil Monitoring System for Real-Time Moisture Level and Mineral Content Detection

Category: IoT Projects

Price: ₹ 9350 ₹ 11000 0% OFF

Abstract
Agriculture requires continuous monitoring of soil and environmental conditions to ensure proper crop growth and efficient use of resources. This project presents the development of a soil monitoring system capable of measuring soil moisture, temperature, humidity, turbidity, and mineral content. The system uses the Arduino Uno as the main controller to interface with various sensors. The collected data is processed and transmitted through the ESP8266 for wireless monitoring. Soil moisture sensors measure the water content in the soil, while temperature and humidity sensors provide environmental data affecting plant growth. A turbidity sensor measures the quality of irrigation water, and mineral content sensors estimate nutrient levels in the soil. The data collected from these sensors helps farmers make informed decisions regarding irrigation and fertilizer application. The system demonstrates the integration of embedded systems, wireless communication, and sensor technology for smart agriculture applications.

INTRODUCTION:

Soil health is one of the most important factors influencing crop productivity. Farmers need to monitor soil moisture, temperature, humidity, and nutrient levels to maintain proper conditions for plant growth. Traditional methods rely on manual observation, which may lead to inaccurate results and inefficient use of resources.
Modern agricultural systems use sensors and microcontrollers to automatically monitor soil conditions. In this project, the Arduino Uno collects data from multiple sensors and processes it to determine the condition of the soil. The system uses the ESP8266 to transmit the collected data wirelessly to a remote monitoring platform.
This system helps farmers monitor soil conditions in real time and optimize irrigation and fertilizer usage, leading to improved crop yield and resource management.

Objectives
1. To design a soil monitoring system that measures soil moisture, temperature, humidity, turbidity, and mineral content.
2. To use sensors for real-time monitoring of soil conditions.
3. To process sensor data using the Arduino Uno.
4. To transmit collected data wirelessly using the ESP8266.
5. To assist farmers in improving irrigation and fertilizer management.
