Smart Portable Soil Tester for Agriculture with Real-Time Analysis

Category: IoT Projects

Price: ₹ 11200 ₹ 14000 20% OFF

Abstract:
Agriculture is the backbone of many economies around the world. However, unscientific farming practices and improper use of fertilizers have degraded soil quality. A Portable Soil Tester provides farmers with an affordable, easy-to-use tool to monitor soil health and improve crop productivity by providing real-time insights into soil parameters.
This project involves the design and development of a portable, low-cost soil testing device that can measure soil pH and nutrients helping farmers make data-driven decisions. These data are used and analysed through Arduino Uno. Sensor values and earth-friendly cultures will be visible on the Android device connected to the blue tooth in Arduino. Thus, the project helps the farmer find the type of soil and he can choose the crop accordingly.
INTRODUCTON:
Automation has been increasingly important in the agriculture area in recent years. Soil is an important component of successful agriculture since it is the source of the nutrients necessary to grow crops. There are three varieties of soil based on their texture: sand, silt, and clay. Sand is one of the various categories that is used in the construction of buildings. Agriculture is only supported by silt and clay kinds. Crop failures occur as a result of the crops being harvested in an improper setting. Nowadays, young people are entering agricultural fields and are unable to identify the crops that are most suited to the land. To reduce the time consumption and to get the immediate result, this project ‘Portable Mobile Soil Tester for Agriculture’ helps them to identify the type of the soil and its suited crop immediately. There are two types of nutrients in the soil that constitute the soil. They are primary nutrients and secondary nutrients. These nutrients are necessary for the good texture and fertility of the soil. This also displays the nutrients level such as pH, phosphorus, ammonia and nitrate contents in the soil.

Objectives:
The main objective is to develop a portable soil testing device. It should be able to measure essential soil properties. The device must provide real-time readings of pH, phosphorus, ammonia and nitrate contents in the soil. It should be battery-powered for use in the field. The system must be affordable for small farmers. The device should be easy to operate with minimal training. It must be lightweight and durable for field use. Sensor data should be clearly displayed for quick interpretation. It should support future upgrades like wireless connectivity. Overall, the goal is to help farmers adopt data-driven agriculture.
