Abstract:
This project presents the design and implementation of a Smart Bin System for Smart Cities using Internet of Things (IoT) and an Android Application.
The system facilitates efficient waste segregation by utilizing two separate bins: a blue bin for wet waste and a green bin for dry waste.
Each bin is equipped with three IR sensors to monitor the waste levels, indicated by LEDs that display white for empty, green for half-full, and red for full.
An automatic lid mechanism, controlled by DC motors and relays, opens the bins upon detection of a nearby user via an IR sensor, while an Android app enables remote manual control.
The system employs an Arduino microcontroller to process sensor data and control the motors, with data transmitted wirelessly to the app using the ESP8266 Wi-Fi module.
The Android application provides real-time monitoring of bin levels and facilitates manual control of the bin lids.
This IoT-based solution aims to enhance waste management efficiency in smart cities, promoting better waste segregation and reducing human interaction with waste disposal systems.
