Abstract:
The multilevel inverter utilization has been increased since the last decade. These new type of inverters are suitable in various high voltage and high power applications due to their ability to synthesize waveforms with better output. This project presents seven level multilevel inverter. The multilevel inverters have received special attention due to the modularity and simplicity of control. The development of high-voltage semiconductors to drive inverter systems continues. From a practical point of view, multi-level inverters can be based on suitable configurations for applications where a high output voltage can be generated using medium voltage devices. In addition to this focal characteristic, multilevel inverters have high quality performance due to the generation of a stepped output voltage closer to the sine waveform which reduces the harmonics in the output waveform.
Introduction:
Power electronics circuits play vital role in production of electricity using renewable energy sources. It is mainly used to convert and control the signal. It converts the sources, either it from DC/AC to AC/DC .The DC sources converted to AC source is called rectifier and the AC source converted to DC source is called inverter. The inverter converts electrical energy.
Multi-level inverters are applied in the area of medium voltage and high power applications. It produces a desired MLI output voltage from the separate DC sources. The multilevel inverter pays attention due to its advantages in lower switching loss better electromagnetic compatibility, lower harmonics and higher voltage capability. The initial inverters developed were only of two levels. The technology got advanced and multi-level inverters were developed which can produce a desired output of different voltage levels from many input DC voltage sources
Multilevel Inverter is one of the possible solution which is applicable in many application system. They are capable to use in high voltage application with low harmonic also and easily provide the require power levels needed by the high voltage drives.
