Abstract:
This project presents an IoT-based Manhole Detection and Monitoring System designed to enhance urban safety and infrastructure management.
The system integrates various sensors and communication modules with an STM32 microcontroller to monitor environmental conditions within the manhole.
Key parameters such as temperature, water level, flow rate, and manhole cover status are continuously monitored.
Data are displayed in real-time and remote alerts are sent in case of anomalies. The system also uploads data to a cloud platform for continuous monitoring, ensuring timely detection and response to potential hazards, thereby improving maintenance efficiency and public safety.
• Real-Time Monitoring: To continuously monitor the environmental conditions within manholes, including temperature, water level, flow rate, and the status of the manhole cover.
• Anomaly Detection: To promptly detect and identify anomalies such as sudden temperature changes, rising water levels, unexpected flow rates, or unauthorized access, and generate immediate alerts.
• Automated Alerts: To implement an automated alert system using GSM technology that sends notifications to maintenance personnel and relevant authorities in case of detected anomalies.
• Data Visualization: To provide real-time data visualization through an LCD display, enabling maintenance personnel to quickly assess the status of the manhole on-site.
• Cloud Integration: To integrate the system with the Blynk IoT platform via the ESP8266 module, enabling remote monitoring and data access from any location.
• Predictive Maintenance: To utilize the collected data for identifying patterns and trends that can facilitate predictive maintenance, thereby reducing the likelihood of infrastructure failures.
• Enhancing Public Safety: To improve urban safety by reducing the risk of accidents related to manhole infrastructure through proactive monitoring and maintenance.
