ABSTRACT:

Road accidents are a leading cause of fatalities worldwide, highlighting the urgent need for efficient accident detection and rapid emergency response. The proposed project, an IoT based Automatic Accident Detection and Alert System, leverages embedded systems and communication technologies to detect accidents and send real-time alerts to emergency contacts or services. The system integrates an accelerometer sensor (MPU6050/ADXL335) to detect sudden motion changes indicative of an accident. A microcontroller (Arduino Uno, ESP32, or Raspberry Pi) processes sensor data and triggers the accident detection mechanism. A GPS module (NEO-6M/SIM808) retrieves the vehicle's location, while a GSM module (SIM800L/SIM900A) sends an emergency SMS alert to predefined contacts, including rescue services, family members, or authorities. Additionally, cloud connectivity can be incorporated for real-time monitoring via a web dashboard or mobile app, allowing remote tracking of accident incidents. A buzzer/LED module can provide local alerting to bystanders for immediate assistance. The proposed system offers several advantages, including automatic and real-time accident detection, reduced response time, and increased chances of survival by ensuring that help reaches the accident site promptly. Unlike conventional accident detection methods, which rely on manual reporting, this system operates autonomously, making it highly reliable and efficient. Future enhancements can include machine learning algorithms to distinguish between actual accidents and false triggers, cloud-based data analytics for predictive accident monitoring, and integration with emergency services for automated ambulance dispatch. Additionally, a mobile application can offer live updates and accident history tracking for improved safety monitoring. This project provides a cost-effective, scalable, and efficient solution for accident detection, significantly contributing to road safety by ensuring faster emergency responses and saving lives.


Objective:

1. Detect Accidents Automatically using an MPU6050 accelerometer by sensing sudden impacts or motion changes.
2. Track Real-Time Location with a GPS module (NEO-6M) to get accurate latitude and longitude coordinates.
3. Send Instant Alerts via SMS using a GSM module (SIM800L) to notify emergency contacts with the location link.
4. Integrate with Blynk IoT Platform to provide live accident alerts and GPS tracking through a smartphone app.
5. Trigger Local Alert using a buzzer to notify nearby people immediately after a collision.
6. Use Low-Power IoT Hardware like NodeMCU ESP8266 for real-time data processing and remote connectivity.
7. Allow Manual Reset or Alert Acknowledgement from the Blynk interface for control and testing.
8. Enhance Road Safety by reducing emergency response time and improving post-accident communication.
