Abstract
The Smart Hiking Band is an intelligent wearable device designed to enhance the safety and well-being of hikers in remote and challenging environments. The system is developed using the ESP32, enabling real-time data processing and wireless communication.
The band integrates multiple sensors, including the MAX30100 SpO2 sensor to monitor heart rate and blood oxygen levels, and the MPU6050 accelerometer to detect falls and abnormal movements. A NEO-6M GPS module is used to track the real-time location of the hiker, ensuring accurate positioning in remote areas.
The collected data is displayed on an OLED display, allowing users to view their health status and movement information instantly. The system is powered by a rechargeable battery supported by a TP4056 charging module, making it portable and suitable for long-duration use.
For emergency situations, the system is integrated with the Blynk. A push-button SOS feature enables the user to send immediate alerts along with their live GPS location to predefined contacts.
Additionally, a simple Machine Learning (ML) approach is implemented to analyze sensor data such as heart rate, SpO2 levels, and motion patterns. Based on this analysis, the system classifies the user’s condition into Normal or Abnormal states. In case of abnormal conditions, alerts can be triggered to ensure timely assistance.
