Abstract:

This project focuses on the development of a Twitter clone using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js). Social media platforms have become an integral part of modern communication, and Twitter stands out due to its micro-blogging format, real-time content dissemination, and engagement.

The objective of this project is to replicate Twitter's core features, such as posting tweets, following users, retweeting, commenting, liking posts, and real-time updates, in a simplified version.

By leveraging the MERN stack, the project aims to ensure efficient performance, scalability, and a user-friendly interface.

Additionally, the project provides a hands-on experience with full-stack development, integration of modern frontend-backend frameworks, and database management systems, thereby contributing to the understanding and creation of a social media platform.

Introduction:

Social media has transformed the way individuals communicate, share ideas, and engage with content globally. Twitter, launched in 2006, has grown into one of the most popular platforms for short-form communication, allowing users to express thoughts in real time through 280-character posts called "tweets."

Twitter's simplicity and immediacy have fostered a vast user base and have been particularly instrumental in breaking news, promoting discussions, and influencing trends.
This project aims to replicate Twitter’s primary functionality using the MERN stack.

The MERN stack is a powerful combination of technologies—MongoDB for the database, Express.js as the server framework, React.js for building the user interface, and Node.js for the backend runtime environment. By integrating these tools, we will develop a simplified yet robust version of Twitter, focusing on key features such as user authentication, posting, commenting, liking, following, and real-time updates.
