Abstract:
A Hospital Management System (HMS) built using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js) is a web-based application designed to optimize and automate hospital operations. The system integrates various hospital functionalities such as patient management, doctor scheduling, appointment booking, and billing into a unified, efficient platform.
The frontend of the application is developed using React.js, a dynamic JavaScript library for building interactive user interfaces. React helps create a responsive and user-friendly interface for patients, doctor. Features like patient registration, appointment scheduling, viewing medical records, and making online payments are seamlessly presented with React's component-based architecture.
The backend is built using Node.js and Express.js, which provide a robust, scalable server-side framework. Node.js ensures fast processing of requests and real-time communication between patients and healthcare providers. Express.js helps in creating RESTful APIs that manage patient records, appointments, doctor information, and billing data.
For the database, MongoDB is used, which stores patient data, doctor profiles, appointment schedules, and billing records in a NoSQL format. MongoDB’s flexibility allows for easy management of structured and unstructured data, such as medical reports, prescriptions, and diagnostic images.
