Abstract:

This project presents the design and implementation of a gesture-based pick and place robot controlled via an Arduino microcontroller.

The robot integrates a two-part control system: one for the movement of the robot’s wheels and another for the operation of a robotic arm.

The motion of the robot is managed by a motor driver, while a separate motor driver controls the arm’s movements. Bluetooth communication is employed to receive and interpret gesture commands from a remote device, facilitating real-time control.

The gesture commands include specific actions such as forward, backward, left, right, pick up, place down, stop arm movement, and return to home position.

This system offers a user-friendly interface for controlling the robot's movements and operations, making it suitable for applications in automated material handling and robotic automation tasks.

The implementation details, including hardware setup, software design, and experimental results, are discussed, demonstrating the effectiveness and accuracy of gesture-based control in robotic systems.

• Develop a Gesture-Based Control Interface: Design and implement a Bluetooth-based gesture control system to remotely operate the pick and place robot. The system should enable users to send commands such as forward, backward, left, right, pick up, place down, stop arm movement, and return to home position using predefined gestures.
• Integrate Motor Drivers for Robot and Arm Control: Utilize motor drivers to control the movement of the robot’s wheels and the robotic arm. The motor drivers should facilitate precise and reliable operation of the robot’s navigation and arm positioning functions.
• Implement Arduino-Based Control System: Create a control system using an Arduino microcontroller to manage the overall functionality of the robot. The system should handle both the reception of Bluetooth commands and the execution of corresponding actions for the robot and its arm.
• Validate System Performance: Conduct comprehensive testing to evaluate the performance and accuracy of the gesture-based control system. Ensure that the robot responds correctly to all gesture commands and performs pick and place operations effectively in various scenarios.
